Thanks for joining us in Phoenix, AZ for STPCon Spring 2017. We are looking forward to seeing you at the Renaissance Phoenix Downtown Hotel! Below, you will find some last minute travel tips and reminders before you head out for the Software Test Professionals Conference Spring 2017.

STPCon Registration & Information Desk

Please plan on checking in and picking up your conference materials at our on-site registration desk, located on the Meeting Level Foyer of the Renaissance Phoenix Downtown Hotel – just look for our signs in the lobby directing you there. The registration desk is open during the following hours:

Monday – 3/13 – 7:30am – 5:30pm
Tuesday – 3/14 – 6:45am – 5:00pm
Wednesday – 3/15 – 6:45am – 5:00pm

There are a few workshops and certification courses that require pre-reading, configurations and installation of software to participate. If you are registered for certification or planning on attending the workshops below, please take time to review the following workshop requirements.
ISTQB Test Engineering Foundation Level Training – Rex Black (3/13-3/15)

Client-side Performance Testing – Anand Bagmar

  1. Participants should bring their laptops for this workshop.
  2. Participants should install phantomJS.
  3. Chrome browser with Developer Tools installed.

Jump Into JMeter – Amber Race

  1. Mac or Windows laptop with Java 1.7 or greater installed.

Installation and setup will be part of the workshop, so participants don’t have to do anything with the downloaded files until the workshop.

Recommended Attire – What to Pack

All attendees are encouraged to dress business casual. Hotel meeting rooms are generally kept a little cool, so a sweater or light jacket can be useful during the workshops and sessions.

STPCon Welcome Reception & Sponsor Showcase: Attire for the reception is business casual. The reception will be held in the Pueblo Ballroom (Lobby Level, Outside Entrance) Thursday 3/16 – 5:00-7:30pm.

STPCon - Weather

Weather During STPCon

Phoenix weather is generally very predictable yet pleasant at this time of year.  Please check the 10 Day forecast prior to leaving your home to gain an idea of what to expect. Currently, highs are expected to be in the mid to upper 80’s during the day and in the low 60’s at night. There is a 0% chance of rain during STPCon, which is good – we will be eating lunch outside!

Arriving in Phoenix, AZ

More than likely you will be arriving in Phoenix at the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX). When arriving, there are a couple of options for transportation to the hotel. The most common is a Taxi Service from your terminal to the Renaissance Phoenix Downtown Hotel (100 N 1st St. Phoenix, AZ 85004). A one-way Taxi trip should run about $22.00. Another option, for the adventuresome tester, is the Valley Metro Rail. The closest station is the Washington/Central Ave (NWB) station which is .3 Miles from the Hotel. Google has a great map of the light rail for your convenience.

Local Attendees: Will you be driving and need to park during the day? There is all day Valet Parking only in the hotel lot. Parking rates are $32/day. Don’t forget, the Renaissance Phoenix Downtown Hotel is very close to  the Valley Metro Rail’s Washington/Central Ave (NWB) station.
